Mystic Lotus Yoga

yoga, intuitive movement, somatic drawing and breathwork

Have you felt like yoga classes couldn’t meet you where you are? That yoga isn’t for you? Do you experience chronic pain, fatigue or have a chronic illness? Do you have injuries that become aggravated in class? Does your nervous system feel disregulated? Yoga is for every body and my small classes are geared towards meeting each student where they are with curiosity, humility, and experimentation.

Through yoga, intuitive movement, somatic drawing and breathwork, we practice finding doorways into our body just as it is. I have training and direct experience in subtle body, trauma informed and adaptive body yoga and I bring this into my classes to support each student.

I know very little about moss intellectually, except that once someone told me not to peel it up because it takes a really long time to grow (ever since I’ve been very careful). I know it much more somatically, from using it as a child in building fairy houses, precious moss squares spending a long time between my fingers (I did not at the time know that it might take a really long time to grow), to trying to calm my nerves at the beginning of the pandemic when I had to move back in with my parents because none of us knew if Covid would kill me. I’d walk down to the forest behind their house and press into the immensely fluffy mounds of moss, gently but with the intention to ground. I remember it in both spaces as spongey in a deeply pleasant way. The perfect roofing material. Like fun is woven into its pores. Silliness seeps out when a little finger presses into its bounciness. And it’s also near the musk, the soothing messiness of the ground- mold, decaying wood, rocks and maybe strange forest trash. The perfect both/and. I love moss, it was a prized construction material for fairy houses, and so sat in my heart from a young age. It comes to mind often when I’m practicing yoga, a way to keep my attention grounded yet springy. Moss grows in the in between, my favorite space, the synovial fluid of the world, and something in me innately turns to it when I need to find space in my body- the in-betweens, the space that is found in all things, no matter how tight, tired or painful. Moss breathes this springiness.

slow, spongy, grounded

I teach alignment based, trauma informed yoga. I have trained in adaptive-body yoga and studied at Mind Body Solutions. I draw from my own personal experience with a chronic illness and traumatic brain injury. Exploration and experimentation lead my own practice and how I teach.

Adaptive Yoga for chronic illness

  • These private sessions are geared for those of us moving through life with chronic illnesses of all kinds. They emphasize practices in the subtle body and tools for practicing with chronic pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, etc. We will utilize grounding as well as expansion to navigate difficult mind/body relationships. They also emphasize experimentation as practicing adaptive yoga is always a territory of both vastness and unknowns.

Yoga private sessions

  • These are in-person private sessions that can be tailored to your needs. My primary focus of practice is to get students curious about the inner layers of their bodies. These sessions will be alignment based and can be tailored to be more energetic or my physical practices depending on each students needs.

  • Sliding scale $70-100 hourly

Yoga private virtual sessions

  • These are virtual private sessions done over google meetup. The same principles apply to these classes as to the in-person private sessions.
